New mobile phone!

June 17, 2009

I just got my new phone today, and I just got my internet working on it, so I’m blogging from it now :)
It’s a Nokia 5800 with a touch screen whixh is cool. It sure works well. I’ve used iPhone before(sold them) but now I wanted to try another touch phone. A friend has an LG touch phone which seemingly works quite fine, and now I was in dire need of a new phone. I’m going to keep testing my new toy, bye bye :)

I tested the camera. I was a bit shaky so I'll take a new photo later to see how good it is.

Military organization

You know it’s time to create a better organization when your right flank suddenly appears from the left.
That’s good to know.

First aid training

May 19, 2009

I got some first aid training today and sadly Ewelina, whom I was treating, fainted of bloodloss while I was taking care of her wound. I forgot to tell her to lie down and instead focused on stopping more blood from flowing out of her wound.

Luckily for her it was just training, but I’ll make sure not to do the same mistake again!

Norway won Eurovision Song Contest 2009!

May 17, 2009

Congratulations Norway on winning Eurovision Song Contest 2009! Alexander Rybak really earned it, his song was really good. Had I lived close by I would have been there when he came back to Sweden to congratulate him, but I live too far away to go there just for that.

Anyway, next year Eurovision will be in a neighboring country (I live in Sweden) so I’m going to check the ticket prices for being there. It would be really fun to watch it live! If the tickets are too expensive however, I’m afraid I can’t afford it as a student :(

Congratulations again Alexander on winning Eurovision Song Contest 2009! You earned it!

The song can be found legally on Spotify, and here is a direct link to the song. Note that you need an Spotify account to listen to it. http://open.spotify.com/track/0NKA2GWoXo8djibJzIwr3x

China visa

May 14, 2009

visa

Today I received my visa to China! I’m going to study at Nanjing University of Science and Technology in China over summer, and today the visa arrived. It’s a summer course arranged by Karlstad University, Sweden. Next month I’ll go to the hospital to receive my vaccines. It’s not much time left until I travel to China, I can’t wait!

I also got a pleasant surprise when I got my visa back. They had sent some money back in the envelope. On their web page it said 600kr for getting a visa, but they only took 260kr. That excellent! I wish companies would do that too ;)

I’m quite excited about going to china, It’ll be great fun! The course I’ll study there is about Chinese language, culture, music and traditions. Besides all that I’ll get to do some sightseeing but that’s mainly over the weekends. I get a place to stay for free too, so this trip will be a lot cheaper than any normal tourist trip and I’ll get to learn a lot more about China rather than taking photos of their landmarks. It’ a win-win situation and will be a lot fun not to mention interesting!

Star Trek film

May 14, 2009

Star Trek movie poster

Yesterday my friend and I went to the cinema to watch the new Star Trek film. I was really exited about watching the prequel to the series. We were so eager to watch it, we ended up being there 30 minutes before the film actually started and were the only ones there. Bored, we began texting each other “Hello what are you doing? I’m waiting for the film to start.” and so on. I also sent that to another friend and said that we were bored and came there too early, and all she sent back was the short text “Nutheads!”. Gee, thanks. But to be honest I already knew it ;P

Nutheads!

The film was quite good and I liked Zachary Quinto as Spock. Something that’s hard to ignore is that J.J. Abrams did not fall in line with the rest of the Star Trek world. I’m not going to spoil anything but he actually made a prequel to a tv series, but still he didn’t make it fit into the Star Trek universe that was supposed to follow after this film. It would have been a really good Star Trek film if it wasn’t for that, which he could have avoided. I don’t think I’ll want to see a Star Trek movie made by him again because J.J. Abrams would just ruin it yet again. I’m hoping for a real Star Trek fan next time who knows the storyline of Star Trek and “yes and noes” about what can be altered and not.

J.J. Abrams would just ruin it again.

The score for this film is really hard to set because in one hand he destroyed the storyline of the prequel I anticipated, and on the other it’s a really really good film once I got the chance to think it through and realized what the movie really was. I had anticipated a prequel, only to find out it wasn’t. Throughout the movie it felt all wrong what happened but afterwards I thought it through and found out that it was still really well done. The whole film is in an alternate universe which happens to be before the series. Important to remember – at all times – is that it is set in an alternate universe. With that in the back of your head it all makes completely sense and is an awesome movie! remember in that in the end, Romulus is still destroyed in the universe we are used to, not in the parallel universe. In the real universe, Vulcan does not suffer from Nero’s wrath which makes it still fit into the real Star Trek universe in the end.

My rating is 4.5/5.
It is in truth an excellent film. Despite my first thought that I wrote earlier, that J.J. Abrams destroyed the time line, I realized later that night that it was actually quite good.

Space invader!

May 3, 2009

A space invader is invading my home! :O

It is, sort of. I’ve made myself a neat little picture out of floppy disks, a piece of wood and some paint. Not to mention the help from Mattias, who gave me a piece of wood for my picture and helped me make it.

The space invader (from the old computer game Space Invaders) is made out of 46 floppy disks. Each disk is one pixel, and we made sure exactly one disk fits into the empty spaces to make sure it was straight. I am really proud of it but I’ve yet to choose a place for it. Perhaps above my bed. Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to life when I’m sleeping! I wonder what the police would say if I called them in the middle of the night claiming that ” *panicked* the space invaders are taking over my bed!”

Police: Hello, what can I do for you?
Me: *panicking, shouting* There’s a space invader taking over my bed!

No but seriously, what if I have a nightmare about space invaders, wake up and think “oh good, it was just a dream” and then, bam! I see one on the wall over my head and think something along the line of “oh shit! It was real after all!” *slowly reaching after my mobile phone and calling the police*

1 may, demonstrating

May 3, 2009

Apparently it is customary to demonstrate against something on 1 may, at least in Sweden, so I went down to town to see what it was all about. One of the demonstrators had a sign that said “Reinfeldt does not care about us young people :( “. The only thing is, the man holding it must have been at least 50 years old!

Valborg @ Marieberg

May 3, 2009

I myself and Mattias went to Mariebergsskogen in Karlstad at valborg, and here’s a short review of what we saw there. They had a few huge fireworks but they were too big to fit into a picture in my camera so I left them out of my blog. I got a short film of a cool piece they had where the fireworks moved left and right, I liked it!

I was going to!

A new picture in the making

I would have blogged today about Valborg yesterday and today, but my camera ran out of battery soI’ll have to wait until I get my pictures and videos. It’s recharging right now, so hold out!

I’m making a new picture made out of floppy disks that looks like an space invader. It’ll be awesome :D
